Family Abuse Intervention Act

Purpose:

The Family Abuse Intervention Act, SNu 2006, c 18 (see below), delivers legal tools and resources to victims and to the respondent(s). The Act supports solutions to violence, based on values of the Community. The Program delivers Emergency Protection Orders and/or Community Intervention Orders which provides counseling not only done by elders - but anyone the Applicant identifies as helpful (i.e.: Family member, mental health, clergy etc.) in the participating community to both the applicant and to the Respondent
